Having Problems Signing up for the Affordable Care Act in Tampa?

Almost 100,000 Tampa residents lack health insurance, and twice as many people in Hillsborough County face the same problem. Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn along with U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius and Congresswoman Kathy Castor held a press conference earlier this week explaining that the City of Tampa will be offering assistance for enrollment in the Affordable Care Act Insurance Program.

Bay City Chiropractic in Tampa wants to share with all of our patients the recent announcement from the City of Tampa about local enrollment centers for the Affordable Care Act Insurance Marketplace. For those interested in participating in the ACA insurance marketplace and have been having trouble with using HealthCare.gov the city is offering 9 locations to speak with navigators.

Healthcare.gov is the best place to start when applying for insurance in the Marketplace, but if you run into problems the City of Tampa is offering an alternative. The nine locations selected by the city encompass some of the busiest recreational centers in the City of Tampa. Each location will be start operations on January 20^th through March 31^st from 4pm to 7pm. Staffed by navigators (unbiased individuals trained and able to help consumers, small businesses, and their employees) to assist in deciding on health coverage options through the Marketplace, including completing eligibility and enrollment forms.

Many of our Tampa Chiropractic patients are insured through their employers or have personal policies, so they don’t need to worry. If you are in need of insurance and purchasing a policy through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace we offer a few suggestions:

• Review Past Healthcare Expenses:  Add up Primary, Specialist, appointments to the Chiropractor and Acupuncture Physician; consider prescription costs, medical devices and potential hospital stays and apply each level of insurance (Gold, Silver, Bronze) along with the premium to decide which will best fit your needs.

• When choosing a policy find out how many visits are included to your Tampa Chiropractor, Acupuncture Physician and massage therapist. 

• Make sure that your Chiropractic Physician, Acupuncture Physician and Medical Doctor are providers for the particular insurance company’s plan.
